Verde Village was originally developed in 1970 as a retirement community. Today, people of all ages live in Verde Village homes, though about two thirds of the population are retirees. It is considered a bedroom community for Cottonwood, which is its northern neighbor.

Find just about anything you need at the Walmart Supercenter. You can also find some great local eateries for a meal out. Ralbertos Mexican Food offers quick, tasty meals to eat in or take home. Calavera Bar and Grill is another beloved Mexican eatery. They also have a great list of beers and wines.
Families considering the area will be pleased with the local public schools, which are rated above-average on state testing and get strong parent reviews. There are also several excellent private schools.
Many people are drawn to Verde Village and the greater Sedona area because of the beautiful natural surroundings. The Verde River flows on the eastern boundary of the village. It’s a great place to go for a picnic and to explore nature. The city of Cottonwood also has a full recreation calendar, with community events and sports leagues year-round. Residents can head to the Cottonwood Rec Center for exercise classes and to use the indoor pool.
