Everyone who calls Sedona home and is a dog owner is invited to Yappy Hour. This event takes place each week and is a great opportunity to get to know other dogs and owners who live in the area. The program takes place on Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. November through April 15th and 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. April 15th through October. There is no cost to attend this event, which takes place on the multi-use field at Posse Grounds Park. Dogs are usually not allowed on these fields, and when they are in the park, need to be on a leash. However, during this event, these rules do not apply and your dog can run free off-leash.

Let Your Dog Enjoy the Park and Running Around with Other Dogs on Thursday Mornings

Bring your canine companion to run around, exercise, and socialize. It’s a great chance for owners and pets to get out of their Sedona home. Just be sure to familiarize yourself with all rules before joining the fun. Special COVID-19 protocols are currently in place, such as wearing a mask if unable to keep a 6’ distance from others and staying home if feeling sick. Participants are also responsible for their own water bowls and other equipment.

All owners must pick up after their pets. Non-neutered males and females in heat are prohibited. Please do not arrive prior to start time, as the field will not yet be open to dogs, and keep your dog on leash before and after Yappy Hour. Owners must also stay with their dog at all times and make sure there is no excessive barking. Please leave glass containers, weapons, and dog treats at your Sedona real estate. Wine lovers living in Sedona homes are in for a treat when they visit Winery 1912. The winery specializes in Spanish wines, first grown in what is now Arizona when the Catholic missionaries needed wine to celebrate Mass. Getting wine shipped to the territory took months, so the priests began to plant vines and age their own wines. Today, Winery 1912 maintains its own vineyards in Willcox, about a five hour drive south of Sedona real estate. There’s really nothing quite like drinking wine made from grapes grown so close to home.

One event that’s coming up is the Plant and Seed Sale. Everyone living in Sedona is invited to come purchase some great plants and seeds to get a jump on spring planting. Feel good about growing your own vegetables and give the bees and butterflies fuel with some amazing flowers in your yard. The sale will take place on Saturday, March 13th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Community Garden. This is located at 25 W. Saddlehorn at the Big Park Community School.

Plants and seeds will be for sale from Arizona Milkweeds for Monarchs, Sedona Mushrooms, and Verde Valley School Farm. Available plants include mushrooms, kale, sunflowers, wildflowers, medicinal plants, peas, chard, strawberries, onions, melons, corn, squash, beets, herbs, and beans. Please bring cash for your purchases and also wear a mask.

Everyone living on Sedona property has the chance to view local wildlife. Many of these encounters happen in your own backyard, but there are also special opportunities to get up close and personal with a variety of creatures that call Sedona home. One such experience is available with Sedona Area Raptor and Wildlife Presentations at the Verde Canyon Railroad. A train ride on the Verde Canyon Railroad is already a great chance to view wildlife, but with this program, Arizona’s Liberty Wildlife brings birds and other creatures for visitors to see.

Have the opportunity to see wild raptors, owls, and reptiles up close at the depot and during the ride on the train. A bald eagle even makes an appearance on select Saturdays in the year. Her name is Sonora and she regularly enjoys train rides. She was injured and is unable to return to the wild, so serves as an educator and also a sign of the commitment the railroad has to protecting all inhabitants of the canyon. On the days that Liberty Wildlife is available at the depot, they will have a variety of creatures on the patio and they will give a presentation from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. This is open to the public.

Raptors at the Depot (on the patio) will take place this month on March 11th and March 25th. The bald eagle presentation at the depot will be available on March 14th. Reptiles at the Rails will be available on select dates during the summer months. Consider booking tickets for a train ride on these dates to have an extra special experience. Sedona property owners are also invited to visit Liberty Wildlife at 2600 E. Elwood in Phoenix. They offer regular visiting hours as well as special events throughout the year. The Sellers market continues into 2021. The sale of lots seems to have slowed a bit from last month but that could be due to the rapidly rising cost of construction.

Many homes have accepted offers on the first day of the listing.

Even through the pandemic, the City of Sedona Parks and Recreation Department is keeping busy coming up with safe activities for those living in Sedona real estate. An upcoming event is the Spring Scavenger Hunt Pick-Up. While normal Easter egg hunts will not be possible this year, the city has come up with an alternative way for families to celebrate. Residents are invited to drive through to pick up a readymade scavenger hunt. Be sure to register in advance. Registration is open online through March 22nd, 2021. 

Sedona Home Owners Pick up Scavenger Hunt Materials from the Easter Bunny

Pick-up of the scavenger hunts will take place on Saturday, March 27th, 2021 from 9 to 11 a.m. Come to Posse Grounds Park, located at 525 Posse Ground Road in Sedona, to pick up your activity. Just look for the Easter bunny, who will be handing out the scavenger hunts. The activity includes clues that will lead families on a fun adventure around their Sedona real estate and ends with a fun surprise. Please stay in your vehicle the entire time when picking up the scavenger hunt. There will be directional signs posted on Posse Ground Road, so just follow them and look for the bunny.

After you pick up your scavenger hunt, consider parking elsewhere and enjoying the fresh air and scenery at Posse Grounds Park. Spanning 78.63 acres, this park offers tennis courts, softball fields, a sand volleyball and basketball court, a bike skills park, dog park, fitness trail, a large playground for children, and a multi-use grass field. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy a few hours away from your home. If the pick-up day doesn’t work, come back another day to explore the park, it’s a true treasure enjoyed by all who call Sedona home. Also watch for outdoor performances to resume at the Pavilion at Posse Grounds Park in the future.

Many who call Sedona home have experienced events being canceled. Luckily, the 2021 Sedona Stumble is still on. This event, featuring 5K and 10K trail runs, will take place on Saturday, March 20th, 2021, beginning at 9:30 a.m.. The races will take place on the gorgeous grounds of Posse Grounds Park. Runners can enjoy views of the red rocks while completing the course. Those participating in the 5K will complete the loop once and those participating in the 10K will complete the loop twice.

Registration is open now and the price for the 5K is $25. The price will go up to $35 on race day. The price for the 10K is $35 until race day when it will go up to $45. Packet pick-up will be available March 15th through 19th at Run Sedona, located at 150 State Route 179, Suite #5 in Sedona. Packets will also be available on race day from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. at the Posse Grounds Park Ramada.

The Race Course Will Give Runners a Great View of Sedona Real Estate

There are some changes this year, with a COVID protocol in place to protect everyone involved. Runners will start in waves. Start times will be determined in order of registration. The earlier you register, the earlier you will run. While picking up packets, keep six feet of distance from other participants or staff members. Runners must maintain this distance while at the starting line and while on the course. Hand sanitizer will be available at packet pick-up and near all restrooms. Spectators and those who have already finished are also asked to not congregate near the finish line. There will be no awards ceremony. All participants can check their email back at their Sedona home for the results after the event ends.

Prizes will be distributed to overall male and female, overall masters male and female, and male and female age group winners. It’s going to be a great time for all and it’s important for everyone to be safe and follow protocols, as this is only the second event to take place in Sedona in the past year. Sedona Real Estate Owners Float Down the Verde River in a Kayak

For the Inflatable Kayak Adventure, adventurers living in Sedona meet up at the Beasley Flats River Access Point parking area. At that point, you’ll get instructions on how to use all your gear, which includes an inflatable kayak, a life jacket, and a paddle. All gear is carefully cleaned and sanitized between each use. Be sure to dress in clothes and shoes or sandals that can get wet. Bring plenty of water and snacks, a hat, sunglasses, and sunblock. Once you’re in the water, the tour is totally self-guided. The trip down the Verde River lasts between 2.5 and 3 hours.

This is a great tour for people of all ages. Kids ages 3 to 12 can ride tandem with an adult. Kids 13 and over can paddle themselves. Strong kids ages 7 to 12 can paddle a beginner kayak. The cost per solo kayaker starts at $68.75 on weekdays. Tours leave every day of the week at 10 and 11 a.m. and noon.

The Water to Wine Sedona Kayak Experience is open to anyone 21 and older. It’s an ideal way to explore natural Sedona real estate, with a stop at Alcantara Vineyards for a delicious taste of civilization. The kayak portion of the tour is self-guided and is in one of the most scenic sections of the Verde River. You’ll also get to play and relax on the sandy beach on the Alcantara Vineyard property. Tours leave on the hour from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. All kayak gear is provided and is carefully sanitized between uses. Bring a reusable water bottle, dress in clothes that can wet, and don’t forget your ID so you can enjoy the amazing wines paired with excellent food.
