Sedona is known as a pretty upscale community, so some people think if they’re on a budget, there’s no way they can find cheap Sedona homes. However, that is not necessarily the case, especially if you are willing to live a few miles away from the center of Sedona. Though the surrounding communities don’t have the same name recognition, they have many of the same features that Sedona has. You’ll find vibrant art scenes, great restaurants, fun community events, and excellent schools. The whole area is gorgeous, with the distinctive red rock formations. National and state parks are about as close, too.
Here are some of the communities to consider if you want cheap Sedona real estate. Cottonwood is about 19 miles to the southwest, and Clarkdale is 23 miles to the southwest as well. Rimrock is 23 miles due south, and Camp Verde is just a little further at 27 miles due south.
You can find homes in these communities in the mid-$200,000. They typically have three bedrooms and two bathrooms, though there is quite a lot of variation. Some houses are a little older and waiting for just the right person to come along and update them. Many are newer construction and have gorgeous, open floor plan interiors. There are even some lovely historic homes in need of remodeling to be restored to their former glory. House hunters who have experience in fixing up houses can find some astonishingly good deals. These houses need extensive work, but they repay with great locations, views, and plenty of space.
Cheap Sedona homes do not have to come with lots of compromises. They offer the red rock views and large lots that more expensive houses do. Some also come with a casita that can be turned into an income property.
